Reflection on Class Presentations

Project Manager

As a project manager my perspective on these presentations varied vastly from the rest of the class. I oversaw Group 4 and aided them with tips, skills, and support. The focus of the presentations was presentations themselves. The understanding of what a presentation is, as well as public speaking in itself. The art of talking to the public. How to speak and what to say. On top of my collaboration with the group, I had the task of presenting the group to the class. In my speech I gave a brief summary on the chapters that the group was presenting and expressed sentiment on the importance of public speaking skills.

Group 1

The first group to present tends to always have tension. They are the first, which means they are setting up the standard. The groups next to present will more than likely change up their presentations to match up the standard or even surpass it. I believe group 1 did an excellent job presenting. Despite the high pressure to deliver, they excelled. They hit every point and did an amazing job. They discusses the art of public speaking, how to be confident, how to listen, and how to adapt to your audience. The group seemed to have a great understanding of their chapters which I believe aided in providing extra confidence in their speeches.

Group 2

The second group to present seemed fairly prepared and eager to present. They discussed how to develop your purpose and topic, how to research, how to support your ideas, and how to organize and outline. The chapters they had are very crucial to understanding the topic you are talking about. It is very important to understand what you are saying so that the intended audience also understands. I believe they did an amazing job, and one of the best parts was when one of the members asked questions to the audience. Asking questions keeps the audience on their feet and involved. This also aids in figuring out whether the audience truly understands what you are talking about. Feedback is crucial not only to the speaker but for the audience as well.

Group 3

The third group to present covered how to commence and finish your speech, how to use language effectively, how to integrate media, and how to deliver your speech. They presented the more technical aspects of public speaking. These aspects are crucial to appearing professional and put together. The group did a great job thoroughly putting all these points together and presenting it. They also worked past the struggles they faced like the computer not working right. They did everything professionally and efficiently.

Group 4

Being the last group to present we also face a bit of tension and pressure to end on a big note. My group presented on the types of speaking such as informative, persuasive, argumentative, distance and media, and special occasions. They did an excellent job at explaining the speeches. I faced a bit of struggle with how to conclude the group, as we are the last. I summarized a bit of what all the groups spoke about and finished off with the importance of public speaking

Final Thoughts

I truly believe public speaking is an extremely important skill to have. I enjoyed listening to all the passionate groups and all their takes on public speaking and the chapters. I took my job as project manager seriously and gave my time to the group and aided in whatever they needed. I believe this project was very important and everyone should truly learn about public speaking.
